Greetings:

No offense but ATI uninstall is one of the stupidest program I've run
across in recent years.

My ATI Radeon 8500 card totally died, and I have swtiched back to my
old NVidia card which came with my purchase of the computer. However, I
had a very hard time uninstalling the remnant ATI software which came
with the Radeon driver CD, particularly the following 3 software, which
stubbornly sits in the "add/remove program" list and doesn't budge no
matter how many times I click the "Change/Remove" button:

- ATI Control Panel
- ATI DVD Decoder 2.2.0.0
- ATI Multimedia Center 8.1.0.0

ATI DVD Decoder 2.2.0.0, in particular, even give me the following
warning:

Appropriate ATI Hardware not found, Setup will now exit!

Which amply delineates the reason why the other two software won't
uninstall either.

This is so, so, soooooooooooo stupid. Hasn't it ever occurred to those
coders at ATI that one of the main reasons anyone want to uninstall ATI
software is because their ATI hardware no longer works?

Anyways, very sorry for the rambling but I was very pissed by this
problem. Any fix for this situation is hightly appreciated.

Regards,

gunner

Sounds like the software has been removed and there's a glitch in your
'add/remove'. Is it still there after a reboot? Just in case however
google for DCPro. That should remove all remnants of drivers etc.

Easy.

From ATI's own utilities downloads on their website.

CATALYST Uninstaller
This tool is used to delete all ATI related files from your system.
This includes ATI CATALYST software suite and any ATI Demos.

All the more recent Catalyst combined display/capture driver/Control
Panel packages include the cat-uninstaller as 'ATI - Software
Uninstall Utility' in Add/Remove Programs as well, Gunner.
