Can't switch user on Windows XP

After setting up a password on my "Children" user account I can not switch to
another user. The only option is to logoff. I also no longer have a welcome
screen and I do not know how to access Administrator settings. Please help.
Thanks.

If you are using XP Home then you need to access the built in administrator
account in safemode. As the PC starts up keep tapping the F8 key until a
menu appears, you can miss it sometimes so don't give up on the first
attempt.
From the administrator account go to control panel>users and set the way
users log on and off, you should see "welcome Screen". If you have only set
a "children" account then you need to set another account with admin
privileges for yourself.

If you are using XP Pro, in the login name type administrator and do the
same setup in control panel above.

When you set an account in XP the default administrator account gets hidden.
Hope that helps

Neil,
Thanks for your suggestion. At startup I hit F8 until the Windows Advanced
Options menu appeared. I selected Safemode but did not see a Administrator
option. When I went to the control panel then user accounts I did not see any
options to set the way users log on and off. What am I doing wrong? Thanks
again.
