can't start new ASP.net project

I'm trying to start using VB.net and was trying to open a "New Project" and
ASP.net web application but why can't I create it on my hard drive instead
of http:\\localhost. After this I get the error

"The default web access mode for this project is set to file share, but the
project folder at http://localhost/WebApplication1 cannot be opened with the
path \\Mynotebook\wwwroot$\WebApplication1.

Any suggestions?

Can I install and run VB.net on an XP home notebook? And still create
ASP.net projects?

Hi R
Can be everything,
But are you sure you have a webserver (IIS) on your notebook?
You need that to make a web application
(Normally it's not a big job to install that on a professional version of a
NT OS).
(Or you need to connect your notebook to an external webserver).

From your sentence I guess you have not.
And you ask why, it's because a webapplication is a join force from a dll
and an Aspx webpage.

What do I need to have in order to run VB.net and ASP.net? Is it possible at
all to create ASP.net pages on a XP home machine?
