Can't send/receive

I thought I had Outlook installed finally, but now when I
hit send/receive, a box pops up that says "checking for
new messages and sending outgoing messages." That's good,
but immediately another box pops up with the
label "internet email--and my personal folder name--and it
asks me to logon to my server (even though the user name
and password are already entered). I click ok and the
same box pops up again and again and again. I have tried
deleting and re-entering the user name and password, but
nothing works. I can't send or receive mail.

Thanks for responding. When I try to follow the
instructions for "The Save Password Setting is not Saved
When you connect to a POP3" (which I assume is what you
referred me to), the first problem I encounter is that
there is no regedt 32 file on my computer. Do you mean
regedit.exe? If not, what should I do? If so, when I
tried that, there is no \Protected Storage System
Provider.

Hi kj,
on every computer there is a REGEDT32`(without a blank) I dont mean the
regedit.exe!
If you dont have the Protected Storage System Provider Key, please create
one

Honestly, there is no Regedt32 on my machine (Windows
98). I try Start/Run/regedt32 and Start/Find/regedt32 and
in both cases the message I get is that there is no such
file on my computer. Any other suggestions?
