When I try to send mail I get this error message:
The host '(e-mail address removed)' could not be found. Please verify that you have
entered the server name correctly.
Subject 'test1', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: '(e-mail address removed)',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 587, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11003, Error
Number: 0x800CCC0D

I have talked to my service provider and everything is good on their end. I
can send mail using web mail but not through Windows mail????

Yes, their settings have changed and you need to do some editing.

Open windows mail
Tools
Accounts
you're mail account
Properties
Under the sever tab make sure that "My server requires. . ." is checked
Under the advanced tab set your "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" to "587"

Hit okay, okay.
That'll do it.

We are not able to send out mail. We get the following error message:

Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'Fw: Jesus Take the Wheel....', Account:
'pop-server.maine.rr.com', Server: 'smtp-server.maine.rr.com', Protocol:
SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053, Error Number:
0x800CCC0F

Can you please help us? We haven't been able to send out mail for a month
or so now.

"Unexpected" termination is usually caused by interference from a non-
compatible antivirus program. Which antivirus are you running?
As a minimum, email scanning in the antivirus must be turned off,
although that may not be sufficient to eliminate all bad effects.
In a worst case scenario, your antivirus may need to be uninstalled.

Email scanning in any antivirus must be disabled, for reasons
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

If no improvement after disabling email scanning, consider upgrading
to Windows Live Mail, because it is less prone to suffering bad effects
from overly intrusive antivirus programs:

Unable to send out mail. The error message is shown below:

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

Please see my post above. Comcast has changed the smtp settings. Change them
and you'll be fine.

Thank you so much....I'v been scratching my head for hours, don't know why I
had the @ instead of the .
That was the fix.....Thanks again

When the problem started, it turns out that we had two antivirus programs,
TrendMicro and Webroot. We uninstalled the TrendMicro this past week, then
renewed and upgraded the Webroot. What AntiVirus and spyware software do you
recommend? We had Norton on our previous pc but the TrendMicro and/or
Webroot were highly recommended when we purchased our current pc.
thanks!

Sorry but that didn't work. Please help.

NOD32 antivirus is rated best in most reviews I've seen. It includes
antispyware.
For those on a budget, use the free Avast antivirus, and the Windows
Defender antispyware that's included with Vista.

That's not the complete error message. I need to see the part that
says something like
Subject 'Test', Account: 'mail.comcast.net', Server: 'smtp.comcast.net',
Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 10053,
Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
