I am using Outlook Express 6. How do I fix this?

The connection to the server has failed. Account: '(e-mail address removed)', Server:
'mail.west.cbeyond.com', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 1025, Secure(SSL): No, Socket
Error: 10061, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

For Outlook Express support, you'll want to ask in the
microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general newsgroup, tho you may want to
contact your ISP first.

Since you're also using the web based newsreader rather than outlook
express, you might want to use
http://www.microsoft.com/communitie...px?dg=microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general
(or, since you're using Outlook Express for mail, look at the steps in
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/community/columns/newsgroups101.mspx for
how to set up OE to use the microsoft newsgroup server).

You change the port to one which works.

| C:\Documents and Settings\User>telnet mail.west.cbeyond.com 1025
| Connecting To mail.west.cbeyond.com...
| Could not open connection to the host, on port 1025: Connect failed

I can't get a connection to your mail server on port 1025, either.

| C:\Documents and Settings\User>telnet mail.west.cbeyond.com 25
| Connecting To mail.west.cbeyond.com...
| 220 mx.cbeyond.com ESMTP Cbeyond Thu, 24 Jan 2008 00:27:28 -0500
| quit
| 221 mx.cbeyond.com closing connection
|
| Connection to host lost.

But port 25 works.

(Note: I cross posted this to 'microsoft.public.outlookexpress.general'. A
better group for help with problems in MS Outlook Express. Using a web
browser to access the Microsoft Communities is tricky; it often fails to
guide you to the correct group.)
