Let me explain. I'm using Outlook 2003 on my laptop. I'm connected
wirelessly through a router. I can send & receive mail perfectly while using
the built-in wireless card or a PCMCIA wireless card -both work.

If I go to a hotel or lets say an airport, I can connect fine, I can receive
mail fine, but, it won't send. This has been puzzling me for months.

Does anyone have a solution or a suggestion to my dilemma?

Thanks & Happy Thanksgiving.....Dan

You need to set your smtp server to "authenticate".....

Gordon,

I figured it out and it's already set to authenticate (EarthLink.) Any other
ideas?

Since your trying to access mails in your laptop, lets say your checking
mails from EarthlinkAll these places your not going to use the same ISP right, u gotta connect
using available connection right so try to changed the outgoing mail server
according to the connection hooked up Ex:- For Verizon the Outgoing mail
server would be outgoing.verizon.net
Hope this helps you!

That won't work unless the OP has an account with Verizon. It should
work using smtp authentication. If it is not, then I would suggest that
the OP has set something up incorrectly. I for example use smtp servers
at home that are not the smtp servers of my ISP. I use Authentication
and have no problem in sending emails from these smtp servers.
