Can't send mail from File menu in Word

I've recently switched from another mail application to Outlook as my default
e-mail program. Outlook is working OK, and with Word as the mail editor, but
when I try to send a Word file as a mail attachment from Word, using "Send
To" on the File menu I get the following error message: 'Logon failed. You
must log on to Microsoft Exchange to access your address book. Errot code:
“unspecified errorâ€.'

Any suggestions? Could this be some sort of home network problem?

Are you sure you're using Outlook as your default mail hander, and not
Outlook Express? The similar names notwithstanding, the two programs are
about as similar as England and New England.

See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211206/ for more information.

In Control Panel, choose Internet Options - Programs tab, and make sure that
E-mail is set to Microsoft Office Outlook, and not to Outlook Express.

Hi David:

That's a configuration problem in Outlook.

You have set Outlook up to use an Exchange Server to send your mail.

Unless you ARE logged on to the exchange server, the mail can't be sent
because all of the addressing is stored at the server.

Re-configure Outlook to add an IMAP or POP account (Hotmail or Gmail will
work just fine...) so that when you are at home, you can send through that
account. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/287424/

Personally, I use http://www.fastmail.fm as my server. Yes, I have to pay
for it, but I can use it from anywhere including home and work :)

cheers

Thanks for the quick reply!

I've checked and double checked, and Outlook is set in Internet Options as
the default, *not* Outlook Express.
