Can't send e-mail

I am getting the following error message:
Your server has unexpectedly terminated the connection. Possible causes for
this include server problems, network problems, or a long period of
inactivity. Subject 'AYCJAS #21', Account: 'pophm.sympatico.ca', Server:
'smtphm.sympatico.ca', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket
Error: 10053, Error Number: 0x800CCC0F
This message has an attachment, but I have also tried sending messages with
no attachments, and I am getting the same message. The KB941090 doesn't help
(I think I already downloaded it when I had earlier problems.)
Suggestions?

Which antivirus are you running? Some of them are not compatible with
Windows Mail, although it takes time for symptoms to start showing up.

Check your settings:

Also, does your connections to that server cross over from one internet
provider's equipment to another's before it reaches the server? If you're
using a wireless connection, and your computer has decided to connect
through your neighbor's wireless server today instead of yours, the
connection will start out through your neighbor's internet provider's
equipment. With such a crossover, connections to port 25 are often
blocked, to cause problems for spammers.
