Can't see tables

G

Gladys Castillo

Hi all,
I have an access database that when I open I am unable to see the tables
with the data. When a different user opens it they can see the tables. This
was a database created by a person that no longer works here, I have very
minimal experience with Access so I have no idea what to do. I have full
control access to the folder where the database is located. Any assistance
would be greatly appreciated.

Gladys,

It may be a little tough to respond to your question with the information
provided.

Are you using an MDB or and MDE file?
Are you opening a Front End or a Back End?
Is a security module involved?
What is the text in the Target window of the Shortcut Properties?
Can you view objects other than tables (queries, forms, etc.)?
Is the problem specific to the machine or is it specific to the user?
There could be a problem associated with viewing hidden objects.

The first thing that comes to mind is whether the following command is
executed someway.
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdWindowHide

If a Front-End there is also the possibility that the developer who created
the application established the links at some point during the opening phase
(Autoexec Macro or Initial Form opening). In such a case the developer could
have been looking for certain criteria before establishing the links.

See if you can provide a little more information on your environment that
will help us try to develop some suggestions.

Thank you for responding, I appreaciate your time and assistance, but the
above suggestion worked. Now my question is if this is a setting for that
database or was it my worstation that had that open turned off.

Thanks
