Can't see shares.

Dave McDuell

Sometimes the smallest networks drive me crazy. Twp XP
computers tied to a Netgear DSL router/hub. One is using
wireless port, the other-cable. The computer (desktop)
using the cable can see shares on the one (laptop) but not
the other way around. When I browse from the desktop, I go
into Entire network, MS Networks, Workgroup then see both
computers. When I double click on the laptop, I see no
shares. Instead, it gives me a logon box with empty
username and password. When I supply a valid user name
and password (in this case none), I get an error
saying "\\toplap (name of laptop) is not accessible. You
might not have permission to use this network resource.
etc." Both computers can access the internet, they are in
same workgroup, both can ping each other, and the c drive
is shared on both with permissions set to everyone (tried
individual users, no luck). It does not ask me to logon
as guest. Is it possible the Netgear has security on the
wireless side which must be configured ?

Any ideas ??
