Can't see results of drawing in my working slide

When I am drawing lines or boxes etc in PP the action works but I can't see
the results in the slide I am working on. However the results show up when
viewing the presentation in slide show. So a line I draw is there but I
can't tell in the slide I am working whether its in the right place, only
when I look at it in slide show do I know where the line is.
Using bring to front does not fix this problem.
