Can't see open network drive

I have a USB external hard drive connected to a desktop. In the same
workgroup as the desktop is a laptop. I have mapped the drive to the laptop,
but when I try and access it I get a message that says Z:\ is not accessible
The device is not ready. (Z is the drive letter)What am I doing wrong?
Thanks
Tony

I've mapped the drive again and this time I've got a message that says

The mapped drive could not be created because the following error has
occurred:Not enough server storage is available to process this command

What does this mean and what can I do to overcome this? I have plenty of
space on the desktop and laptop hard drives.
Thanks
Tony

Hey everyone!

I'm having kinda the same problem. We have our network which is serve
2003 on a domain. I have 1 trouble pc that we have her mapped to th
server drive. We have it mapped as H:\ drive. If i go thru explorin
the network you can get there however when you click on it it says h:
is not accessable. Drive not ready. I would go into it and delete th
mapping however when i hover over it it highlights like a hyperlink.
Does anyone have any suggestions????? Thanks a million
