Can't run risa 3d program in my new computer

I had a dell precision 330 workstation with win2000, 1gb ram and 3ghz
processor which was used to run structural analysis models in an engineering
program called Risa 3d. I recently upgraded to a precision 470 workstation
with win xp, 4 gb ram and (2) 3.4ghz xeon processors. Most of the models run
fine, but a couple that ran on my old machine won't run correctly on my new
one. When I run them I get a memory error message that says: Problem
allocating calc_stiff_matrix (1040 mbytes) (out of memory?). The program
will be shut down. You should increase your virtual memory and restart your
system. The paging file size is currently set to 4096 initial and 4096 max.

on a computer similar to my original computer, but could offer no helpful
suggestions. Can anyone offer any suggestions to this puzzling problem?

I am just guessing here, but I had a similar message appear when I tried to
run the game "Microsoft Golf 99" on my new XP computer. I was posed the same
question: Out of Memory? I thought this was ludicrous since the new
machine(3.8gHz/2Gig) ran circles around my old (450mHz/256meg)machine. The
only way I could get the game to play was to delete the pagefile and then it
would play fine. You might try doing the same thing and see if your app will
run that way. I am sure that with 4GB of RAM you will not even notice the
pagefile being gone.
I since have given up on playing the game because it was too much hassle
deleting and re-creating the pagefile every time I wanted to play it.
