I have the same problem on SEVERAL (4/5) computers with XP Home/Pro!
It's exactly as Orion says. This doesn't happen all of the time, but
every once in a while (maybe once a week) it will do this over and
over, even after a restart. If you right-click on a file to get
properties or move it or ANYTHING it will crash explorer. You can
left click and drag to the recycle bin at this point with no problems.
After explorer crashes Dr Watson Debugger crashes with option to send
error report. You then have to go into Task Manager and End Process
on DrWatson. The only "different" program in my opinion that I've
installed on these computers is Webroot Spy Sweeper. When I do a
search for "watson" on Webroot I don't see it in their knowledge base.

Dr. Watson is not your problem.
If a program error occurs, Dr. Watson will start automatically.
Dr. Watson is a program error debugger that detects and diagnoses
program
errors and creates User.dmp and DrWtsn32.log files to contain the
diagnostic
data.
If you have a lot of program errors, drwtsn32.log will get huge.
drwtsn32.log should be here >>>
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\Dr

Try running System File Checker.
Start | Run | Type: sfc /scannow | OK
Have your XP CD ready to stick in your CD drive.
If you have XP Home and it asks for your XP Pro Cd, stick the CD in
the
drive *first* and then type the command.
scannow sfc (sfc.exe)

Method 2 (safer): Using ShellExView to determine the Context-menu
handler
causing the problem.
Follow the instructions and get ShellExView!!!
