Can't right-click after SP2 installation.

Thorfinn Aslaksen

Have just from MS downloaded and installed the SP2 pack KB835935,
English version (272M).
The system was previously updated with SP1 and all later patches.
Everything seems to work OK, but when I try to right-click on a
folder, a file or a icon, nothing happens for about 10 seconds, then
everything on the desktop except the background image disappear,
then the icons will be restored a few seconds later.
The only way to get the right-click menu, is to click on a free surface.

Hardware.
Mother board: Aopen AX59-Pro
Graphic board: Asus AGP-6800
CPU: AMD K6-2, 400 MHz
Mouse: MS intellimouse optical.
Keyboard: Logitech
RAM: 256M

Any help is much appreciated.

Regards
Thorfinn

Hi!

I've taken all the measurements suggested in the two links you provided,
but none of them works.

Subsequently I've had a mental breakdown and uninstalled the whole
SP2 shebang.

Now everything works o.k., so I wonder why the heck I did installed it
in the first place, curiosity perhaps.

Are there any major security disadvantages to continue using the old
SP1 and all the later patches? I have up-to-date firewall and anti-virus
programs.

Regards
Thorfinn
