Can't reset Read only attrib

B

hello everyone...

Somehow I managed to set a parent folder to the read only attrib. Now all
the users folders and documents are read only.

I checked the box to take out read only, and then to clear all the
subfolders too, and one file says access denied. I click Ignore and it
apprers to reset the remaining folders and files.

However when I close and reopen the folders properties again, the button is
again back on Read only.

Then I open the parent folder and select ALL and FILE & Properties, and the
box is Read only box is dimmed but cheked in. I can uncheck it, then go
back to the parent folder and again it is checked in.

How can I reset all the folders and files to NOT read only? What am I doing
wrong?

Read-only attributes on folders have no effect. They are ignored.
Just reset the read-only attribute on your files!

From the Command Line: Attrib -r full path to folder you want ro change e.g.
you have a folder on the z: drive named TEST with the Abbrib set to Read
(r). z: \attrib -r \TEST

Hope this helps

From what you stated initially in your post, you have already
changed the attribute (save for a file lacking permissions).
Notice that the Read-Only box on the folders is not checked.
On folders that box is only used as a switch to set/unset the
attribute on contained files (by checking/clearing).
