Can't reload XP ---- HELP!

One day my screen saver became very distorted and the desktop would
not load. I tried to reinstall XP. Disk 1 would load fine, but the
second recovery disk would stop loading and the error message "NTLR
error." I attempted to reload again and now I get a black screen that
says " error loading operating system" If I strike F2 I get the same
error. I really need help. By the way I also tried to load XP
Professional and it would not load at all.
