Tried to reformat couple of my RW CDs formatted with Roxio 5 (Direct CD).
After 45 minutes I get an error message asking to reformat again !!!

Have no problems with CD-Rs

Any suggestion

Thanks in advance

Check your manufacturer's web site for specifications on both the drive and
the software.

Try Alcohol, software... not the stuff you drink or rub! I use th 120%
version but the 52% version should be able to do it too. You can
download the evaluation version and see if it can do it. See here for
more invormation: http://www.alcohol-soft.com/ Use the Erase Wizard
and chose the appropriate erase/format option.

If you have Roxio on your pc the biggest favour you can do for yourself
is to uninstall it in a hurry!

I think it is a complete waste of time reformatting CD-RW. Just burn them
as data cds.

Yes, and that's better. Maybe some people still think you have to use
that "packet writing" with CDRW.

One thing for sure Easy CD Creator 5 and W2K don't like each other.
I've wasted enough CDs and CD-RWs even after the Roxio W2K patch.

Never thought of Alcohol 120%. Will try.

Thanks to all

Thanks, it works fine. Very different from Roxio / Nero.
DeepBurner recognize it as CD-RW while W2K sees it as CD-R.
At least I have a reliable solution. Basic as it may be, but that's what I
need for now "Data backup".

Thanks again.

sometimes it's better to erase it first and to format it later, but i advise
you to burn multisession cd instead to use direct cd sometimes it loses
information.
