Cant publish web

Guest

When I 'publish web', (http or ftp) from within frontpage, I enter my user
name and password (Both of which are correct) but the username and password
box keeps re-appearing and so can't do anything. I have published via a
different ftp program ok using the same username/password.
Also, I have a form on my site but when I 'submit' the info I get an error
page saying the server "doesnt have the server extensions installed".. But
they have.
Any ideas??
I'm still pretty new to publishing a website and not quite sure about the
technial names of things yet..
I'm using frontpage 2000 and windows XP
Any help would be greatly appreciated.. THANKS.

Since you have used FTP you have most likely corrupted the extensions, and using FTP to upload forms
and other items that require the FP run-time extensions will not work if upload via FTP.

Contact your host and then re-install the extensions and check the permissions on your account, then
do NOT use FTP to upload content that is managed by FP.

if you've published by ftp before, then you wont be able to publish by http:
Publishing by ftp breaks the server extensions which are needed for publish via
http:

Forms done with Frontpage require the server extnesions because they are programs
that make the 'bits' of frontpage work, such as sending the email from a form.

Check with your host, ask them to reinstall the server extensions, and then only
publish by http:// in future.

I reset the server extensions on my host but still the same..
I think it must be something to do with me. I have checked the web settings
and am shown 'Server extension version' 4.0.2.6513, 'Server version' No
server currently in use. Is this right ?
I have tried to update my server extensions but get ' you do not have IIS
4.0 or greater '
Am i missing something?
Its probably down to something really simple that even I should already Know..
