Can't publish my site on my IIS server

I have WinXP pro + FrontpageXP + IIS5.1 with extension installed and running

I can access my server via http://localhost:8080 in IE6 but not in FPXP. If
I try to use http://myIP:8080 it asks for a username and password. I use one
of the 2 running on my computer and doesn't work. In IIS security I did
activate anonymous connexion

I am missing something but I don't know what. Is this a case of reinstalling
officeXP ?

In Windows Explorer, right-click c:\inetpub\wwwroot,
choose Properties, click the Security Tab, click the
Advancved button.

Click Add, type Everyone in the Name field, and grant Full
Control.

Select Reset Permissions On All Child Objects And Enable
Propagation of Inheritable Permissions, then OK your way
out.

Stop and restart IIS, or reboot.

Open your root Web in FrontPage.

Choose Security from the Tools menu, and then Permissions.

Grant appropriate security to the usernames you want. For
example you probably want to grant Administrator status to
your normal Windows logon account.

Remove security to the Everyone account.

Run Server Health (or Check and Fix, depending on your
version of the server extensions) taking care to specify
Tighten Security As Much As Possible.

Well, I'm trying very hard to see it anywhere within FP XP but I don't see
it anywhere, not even in the gray-out selection in Tools menu. Are you sure
it is in 2002 version of FP ? The only choice I get is the following once my
root web is loaded in FP :

Tools Menu :
Spelling
Thesaurus
Set language (Gray out)
----------------
Auto thumbnail (Gray out)
Recalculate Hyperlinks
---------------
Server (gray out)
---------------
Tools on the web
macro
Add-ins
Customize
Web settings
Options
Page Options

Is there an administrative option I didn't clicked to see more in those
menus ?

thanks for your help Jim. I got the first part right but when I open
Frontpage XP, in the tools menu, I don't have Security and so on. I tried on
the FPXP help and not much help there. And also, up to that point, I can
tell you nothing has changed so I guess that FPXP security part is the key.
But where do I get it ?

If you opened your Web using an http:// URL, it should be there.

it enver apepars if you open a disk location.

Sorry, my typo. it should have been:

Choose Server from the Tools menu, and then Permissions

However, this doesn't explain why the Server option is dimmed. So, I
ask you again, are you sure you opened your Web using an http:// URL?

Try this:

1. Start FrontPage.
2. If a page or Web is open, close it.
3. Choose Open Web from the File menu.
4. When the Open Web dialog box appears, find the Web Name box near
the bottom
and type http://localhost:8080.
5. Click OK.
6. Satisfy any username/password prompt.

Each time I'm opening a web, FP crashes. I will make a detect/repair and
follow your instructions.

thanks

Also try the usual repairs
1) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all FP Temp Files
2) In Windows Explorer Find and delete all hidden *.web files
3) In Windows Explorer Find and delete the file CMDUI.PRF
4) Disable or Uninstall any FP Addins
5) Run a Repair / Reinstall on FP & IE
6) Install all Service Packs for your OS, IE, and MS Office
