Can't print large doc

Got a big SOP Word doc that is 462 pages. It is a 2.83MB file. It takes
Word a few minutes to load up the whole document. I watch task manager to
see when Winword.exe finally stops taking CPU time. I then know the doc is
loaded.

When I print, I hourglass up and Word goes nonresponsive. I can even just
try to print the first 10 pages and get the same thing.

I have a Pentium 4 1.66mhz with 256MB of Ram, am running nothing else.

What can I do to get this darned thing printed?

Sounds like the document has a corruption -- it's not really such a large
document or file, so apart from the printing problem, it shouldn't be taking
a few minutes to open, either.

Try doing a SaveAs, first as a document to another filename, and failing
that, as RTF. If that's still no good, split it into chunks to see if you
can find the bit that's causing the problem. It usually turns out to be a
long table.
