ok what now?
My hard drive went bad so I replaced it, then I had to order new quick
restore disks from compaq. got that done and installed my new norton internet
security pro 2004, then all my microsoft updates, this was last week, then
service pak #2 was ready two days ago, great everything is working great,
oops! my wife goes back on and gets all her accounts set back up and goes
online and can,t play any of her pogo or yahoo games, and my daughter cant
use her aol instant messenger. I turned my security off to see if that was it
but it did not work. I have all my updates, I don't think it has anything to
do with service pak #2 because the fire wall is turned off because norton is
handling that. My wife tried playing her games the day before I installed
service pak#2 anyway and they did'nt work. Any suggestions?
Thanks Dr. Jeff

Hi Doc,

I saw a post in here within the past 3 or 4 days
describing the same problem and someone posted possible
solutions. Sorry that I can be more specific, but I know
its within the past few days (probably 40 to 50 pages
worth now).

You probably have not installed java, which is needed for online game sites
(like yahoo games)

Microsoft's version
http://www.virtualmachine.tk/

Sun Microsystem's version
http://java.sun.com/

I think those games are Java applets. In that case you need to install
a Java Virtual Machine to play them. Get one here:
http://java.sun.com/getjava
and my daughter cant use her aol instant messenger.

Don't know about that one. I'm pretty sure that Java is not involved
here. Maybe it's a firewall issue, but...

Maybe the Norton firewall is blocking the AIM transmissions? Does it
keep a log that you can check?
