can't play age of empires II on the Zone

Hello,

I'm in college and am using their Internet connection to
acess the Web. I signed up to play on the Zone, but
everytime I try to play AOE II online, I can't join any
games. I tried reading the help files on Zone about this
problem, but I didn't understand them completely. I know
my school uses a type of firewall, but I don't know what
and I don't want to scan it just in case they think I'm a
hacker and disable my Internet. Plus, I don't have the
firewall on XP enabled. Any help is appreciated.

Hi ty,

There's nothing you can do. The administrator of the College
Network would have to open the gaming ports required for
you to be able to play online including on Zone.com.

Here's the List of all Ports used by Zone and DX Games: http://mvps.org/nibblesnbits/PortRoute.html#ports Give the
administrators that list and ask them if they will accommodate you,
otherwise, you'll have to use a dialup internet provider for gaming.

Hello,

Thanks for you reply. I don't think they'll allow any
ports to be open to allow me to play online. We've had
some trouble with students downloading music illegally
and I think they closed some ports to combat that.
