Can't Paste Into New Email - Outlook 2007

G

Guest

I can't copy text from an email or Word and paste it into a new email.

I can copy text from an email and paste it into Word.

Is this a bug or a switch? I had no problem with this in 2003.

I am using Office 2007 and Vista.

Thanks,
Dave

No bug, works like it should. You might want to post your exact steps to
reproduce.

Roady,

It's simple. I open an email I receive. I go to the text of the email,
highlight what I want, right click and click COPY. I click NEW to open a new
email, go to the text area, right click and PASTE is greyed out.

I have tried this with CTRL-C for copy and CTRL-V for paste and the same
problem.

I can do either of the above copy steps and paste the text into a Word
document without any problem. I can't, however copy from a Word document and
paste it into an email either.

Also, just tried to copy an email address to paste into a new email and got

Some add-ons can disable copy&paste ability in Outlook; try starting
Outlook in Safe Mode (outlook.exe /SAFE) and see if it is still happening.

It works in SAFE mode. I tried disabling the add-ins, but could only remove
2 or 3 of them and that did not resolve it. The others gave me a message
saying they were controlled by HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and cannot be changed. Any
ideas?

I don't know how to disable add-ons that cannot be disabled. Try to get
the newest versions of all installed add-ons, and/or contact the
manufacturers of these add-ons to inquire if they know anything about
the disabled copy&paste functionality.

I finally figured it out. Partly a Vista security issue, but fixed it
through Trust Center while I was working with the add-ins. Thanks for your

What type of message format? What are you trying to post? Do you have
Outlook 2007 SP2 installed? What OS do you use? What fixes have you tried
already?

If Sp2 is not installed, install it.
If it is installed, try office diagnostics.

BTW - its usually better to start you own thread than it is to reply with
"Me too" to really, really old threads (over 6 months since it was started).
The thread you are replying to is not visible in the
microsoft.public.outlook.general newsgroups (the site you use is
republishing the newsgroups) and we see only see what is in included in your
post - basically two "me too's" without any sort of background information.

Hi.

In order to copy/paste in Outlook 2007, you have to right-click -> Copy and right-click -> Paste.

This was not a bug, it was a "feature". For security reasons, I suppose.

However, after applying SP2 all copy/paste functionality seemed to have been restored: [Ctrl]/[Shift]+[Ins] & [Ctrl]+[C]/[V] all seemed to work!

It is quite better this way!

You can copy from the Reading Pane but not to the Reading Pane since
messages are being displayed as Read Only.

Instead of replying to an old thread, you might want to start a new one
yourself with your own configuration details and your own description of the
issue you are having.

You can't paste into the reading pane but Ctrl+C or right click, copy should
work. There is a bug with Ctrl+Insert that was fixed in Sp2, so it will work
too, if you have sp2 installed.

No it won't. The solution is already in the post that you copied; it was

Roady,

It's simple. I open an email I receive. I go to the text of the email,
highlight what I want, right click and click COPY. I click NEW to open a
new
email, go to the text area, right click and PASTE is greyed out.

I have tried this with CTRL-C for copy and CTRL-V for paste and the same
problem.

I can do either of the above copy steps and paste the text into a Word
document without any problem. I can't, however copy from a Word document
and
paste it into an email either.

Can't Paste Into New Email - Outlook 2007
Hi.

In order to copy/paste in Outlook 2007, you have to right-click -> Copy
and right-click -> Paste.

This was not a bug, it was a "feature". For security reasons, I suppose.

However, after applying SP2 all copy/paste functionality seemed to have
been restored: [Ctrl]/[Shift]+[Ins] & [Ctrl]+[C]/[V] all seemed to work!

It is quite better this way!

I have the same problem. I can't copy/paste into an email with outlook 2007.

Someone suggested installing mime 2007. I don't know what that is, but where can I go to download it?

Thanks!

Try installing the SMIME 2007. That should resolve this issue.
