Can't open a window with right click on START menu

Hi there,

I hope someone can help me with the problem I am having.

When I go to Start and All Programs and go to any program like Outlook
Express or Real Player and right click the mouse button, the window doesn't
apprear after right clicking. I mean the window with options like "minimize,
maximize, Open, etc." It seems like it is trying to open a window and
something just flicks for less than a second and disappear.

Can anyone help me with this problem?
I reinstalled my windows XP Professional but the problem is still there.

Thanks for helping.

Problems with right-clicking are usually caused by third-party context
extensions. The easiest way to troubleshoot this is by using the free
ShellExView program. See:

Right-click is slow or weird behavior caused by context menu handlers -

Manage the context-menu entries for folders, drives and Namespace objects -

You might want to check the following:

Go to Control Panel and open Taskbar and Start Menu.
Note: You can also right click an open area on your Taskbar and
select Properties from the menu.
In Taskbar and Start Menu Properties, click on the Start Menu
tab.
Hit the Customize button.

For the XP style Start menu, click on the Advanced tab.
In the "Start menu items" box, make sure there's a check mark
next to "Enable dragging and dropping".
Click OK twice.

For the Classic style menu, look in the Advanced Start menu
options box for the same entry.

Good luck

I have been having this problem for a couple of weeks now and it's
been driving me nuts. Took your advice Nepatsfan, and checked the Drag
& Drop and solved my problem, wanted to thank you for the help.
