Help!! I go to the login screen for hotmail and I get a message back that
says the
..net site is unavailable. Has been since yesterday. I can however log into
the
discussion groups etc., so what gives? Anyone know. I have tried to find a
way
to contact the Hotmail Support group but am unable to find a email address
to send
my problem to. I need to get into my mail account. Please Help.

Hi Johnny :)

Try the following and see if it helps:

Can't access Hotmail

Trouble logging into Hotmail

http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers_10.htm#hotmail

and...

Tools>Internet Options>Security>Advanced>Custom Level> change each of the
ActiveX Controls setting respectively down the list to the following:

Change the following in order:
Prompt
Disable
Disable
Prompt
Prompt

also......

Remove MSN Messenver v6.2

and.....

#1.-- You need to be logged on as an Administrator if running Windows XP
(have Full Rights) otherwise you will be limited to "Chat" and will not be
able to Modify/Delete/Change Files or transfer/send or receive files,
E-mails etc.

#2.-- Go To START >RUN> type in the Input window: ReGsvr32.exe softPUB.DLL "

#3.-- Change the Internet Explorer Settings: Tools>Internet
Options>Security>Setting> and set to Medium or Low...

#4.-- Uninstall MSN Messenger... Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs>
find MS Messenger and uninstall it.

#5.-Repair Internet Explorer. Then reinstall MSN messenger... NOT the beta
v6.

#6.-- If you are using a proxy, make sure the settings are correct. If you
use LAN, then check to be sure the "Proxy server" box is Unchecked.

If these steps do not resolve your problem, please post back to this thread
with the details and any error messages.

Hope this helps

Hey Jan:

After checking my settings in IE and adding Hotmail and passport to my sites
list
still had no luck. I then discovered that my boss is blocking it.
Apparently he
does not want me accessing my email at work, even though I use it for
business.
So it was not my machine or Hotmail but thanks alot for the help.
