Can't keep taskbar settings

Hello all,

I'm running WinXP Pro (SP1) and I'm having trouble with my taskbar.
Regardless of how many times I resize my Quick Launch bar and organize
the icons on it, when I reboot, it's back to it's default size and the
icons are back in the original order.

I did have SP2 RC1 installed for a couple of weeks, so maybe that's what
caused the problem and it just wasn't corrected when I uninstalled SP2.

I've tried changing from WinXP style desktop settings to the Windows
Classic and rebooting. I've done that with the taskbar locked and
unlocked with no luck. I've also tried auto-hiding the taskbar and
changing from XP to Classic style with the taskbar hidden, but that
didn't help either. I did notice that when I rebooted, after applying
the Auto-hide option, that option (auto-hide) was unchecked again, so
I'm assuming the problem is with the Taskbar itself, not just the Quick
Launch bar.

I've got a "My Computer" and a "Desktop" toolbar on the taskbar, but
neither of those behave the way Quick Launch does, but then again, I
can't change the order of the icons on those two and I have no need to
resize them.

Any idea how to fix the problem?

Thanks.

Steve

Thanks for the link, Lance.

Unfortunately, it doesn't sound like the program is going to help and I
can't find out without first paying for it (any but the most basic
options are unavailable in the free version).

Does anyone else know of a solution to the problem described in my
original post?

Thanks in advance.

Steve
