Can't Install Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade

G

Windows Vista will not let me upgrade from Windows XP Pro because of my
Advansys SCSI Host Adapter. I have tried two New Advansys cards and I get the
same message telling me that Windows Vista cannot install and takes me back
to the first install screen of Windows Vista Install.

What can I do to install Windows Vista Ultimate Upgrade?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Would you not need the Vista drivers for that card and install them using
the F6 option during the install process??

Where would I get the driver for this SCSI Card? I have tried the Advansys
web site and found no help at all their. I have looked everywhere for the
Windows Vista Driver for this card.

Thanks Peter.....

Here is the message I get everytime I try to install the upgrade.

{{{You must make the following changes before installing Windows
Close Windows installation and contact the device manufacturer for updated
driver software for these devices:
SCSI and RAID controllers: Advansys SCSI Host Adapter
The compatibility report will be saved to the current Windows desktop.
Potential issues were detected with installed applications/devices
These issues do not prevent your upgrade, but some applications and/or
devices might not work once your upgrade completes.}}}}

Thanks Peter, hope this helps better.

Clearly, Windows Vista Ultimate is JUST AS BUGGY AS was Windows 95!
It is not ONLY your SCSI adapter that hinders Vista Ultimate from installing
an upgrade, but APPARENTLY, Windows Vista Home Premium is also TOTALLY
INCOMPATIBLE WITH Windows Vista Ultimate!
I am able to back up my data, but I am FORCED to do a Clean Install, which
TOTALLY WIPES OUT the hard drive, so I am facing 6 or 8 hours of installing
applications.
I have read all that Microsoft BS that is supposed to be helpful or cure the
problem, but THEY DO NOT WORK!!
Is there ANYONE out there who has hacked Windows Vista Ultimate sufficiently
to be able to tell me how I can Upgrade to Vista Ultimate from Vista Home
Premium?
ANYONE!! HELP!! Geoff Tamplin ( (e-mail address removed) )

You need a "retail upgrade" version of Vista Ultimate
in order to upgrade from Vista Home Premium.
It appears you acquired an "OEM" version of Vista
Ultimate which can only be installed as a "clean install".

Untrue. Using advice from another discussion group, I have just successfully
completed the Upgrade, and most (some won't work with Vista Ultimate) of my
applications are intact. I believe that previous versions of Windows OEM
issues were unable to perform upgrade installations. But thanks for sharing
the information.
