Can't install new printer and cd rom without administrator password.

I just purchased a new printer and cd rom. I can't install because it
says i need an administrator password which i assume is my sons because
he has control over the computer. Unfortunately, he is leaving for
college and we aren't on speaking terms so it would be a waste of time
to ask for his help. How can i install? Thanks.

I forgot to mention i have Windows XP if that makes a difference.

In Windows XP only accounts with Administrator permissions can install
hardware (and most all software).
