Can't install and run a cd rom game

Guest

I have an Interactive Media CD-Rom game (7th Level's Monty Python's Meaning
of Life CD) that will not automatically install on my coimputer running the
Windows XP os. When I try and install it, I get this message: "Installation
requires Windows NT 4.0 Service Pack 3 or higher."

What can I do to get the CD-rom up and running?

Hi,

Insert the CD, cancel out of the autorun, or hold the <shift> key down to
override it. Click start/programs/accessories/Program compatibility wizard -
use this tool to run the setup.exe file on the CD in compatibility mode for
WinNTw/sp5. If this fails to get it to install, you may not be able to
unless the program vendor has a workaround.

Originally, the game wasn't designed to work on Windows NT/XP. To install
the game on 2000/XP, use Windows Explorer to browse to the CD. At the root
of the CD, right-click on SETUP.EXE and choose Properties. Click on the
Compatibility tab and choose Windows 98/ME. The installer will then work
correctly.
Next, use Windows Explorer and go to C:\Program Files\Panasonic\Meaning of
Life. Right click on MOL.EXE and choose Properties. Click on the
Compatibility tab and choose Windows 98/ME.

Game should now run perfect.

In other words, install and run it using Compatibility Mode. (See XP Help
and support, search for Compatibility Wizard.) The game is from 1998, before
XP.

Be prepared to use Google to search for work-around for serious bugs in the
game. The developer, 7th Level, and the distributor, Panasonic Interactive
Media, both seem to be defunct, so no patches or support may be available.

Address scrambled. Replace nkbob with bobkn.
