Can't hide Bluetooth icon from system tray

I have a new Dell Vostro 1510 laptop running 32-bit Vista.
When I open
BlueTooth Settings > Options
Even though the
Show the Bluetooth icon in the notification area
is unchecked, it still shows up.

Is there another way to hide it in the system tray?

TIA

That only seems to work if I enable "Hide inactive icons".

Not conversant with that Laptop.

My machine has a Fn+F8 that turns BT on/off.

Thanks, but I want to leave the BT turned on and
just hide the icon.
