Can't get windows mail to work

Keep getting this message:

The host 'SMTP' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the
server name correctly.
Subject 'Emailing: mail', Account: 'POP3', Server: 'SMTP', Protocol: SMTP,
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

The message is pretty self-explanatory. You have clearly not entered the
correct server name or port settings, and it can't work the way it's
configured.

For example, if your mail account is gmail, the SMTP server name is not
"SMTP", as you've entered. It's "smtp.gmail.com". And the port number is
465 with SSL checked on.

If your email provider is not gmail, you still have the settings wrong,
because there are very limited circumstances in which the SMTP server is
actually named "smtp".

I expect that you have similarly misconfigured the incoming server names.
Check with your mail provider for the correct settings and directions.

They will have them readily available; this is a very common question. The
directions are almost identical to those for Outlook Express.
