Can't get rooted explorer to open with the root.

W

Will Pittenger

With the command line at 'C:\Windows\explorer.exe
/e,/root,"%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%"' or 'C:\Windows\explorer.exe
/e,/root,"C:\User\Will Pittenger\"', I get the dialog shown in the
attachment. With the command line at 'C:\Windows\explorer.exe
"/e,/root,%HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%"', it opens My Documents instead.

For a sample of what happens, see
http://img24.imageshack.us/img24/4518/exploremyprofilelinkwon.png. Does
someone know of a solution?

Changing the URL for Explorer doesn't help. I don't want C:\. I want
"C:\User\Will Pittenger\".

That's not what your subject line reads. My response was based on it.

%SystemRoot%\Explorer.exe /root, C:\Users\Will~1

That was a typo. Based on what you wrote below, I tried
"%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/root,c:\users\willpi~1" with no success.

This works fine for me:

%SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /n, /e, L:\

Substitute whatever you want for L:\

The quotes only exist here. I added them for readability. They are NOT
in the shortcut.

/n ????? I don't remember seeing that option.

Keep my quotes, loose yours. Where are you entering this?

Leaving Start In blank doesn't help. I have verified manually that
c:\users\willpi~1 is "C:\Users\Will Pittenger\" by opening that folder.

You've constructed your sig incorrectly in Thunderbird - don't put a -- in
it, Tbird will add -- for you automatically.
As your sig currently has ---- as the delimiter, news readers won't strip
it.

Ta!
