cant get my friend to open a microsoft works doc when i send it

I do my documents in microsoft works but when I send in an email if the
recipient hasnt got works they cant open it. What is the best way round this.
Is it best for me to downlaod another version of word

You can't download Word. I would suggest

1. Any documents you create for this person be created with WordPad.

or

2. Buy Word.

Most Word versions can open documents from at least some versions of Works
(and others with added converters), but since you're on the sending rather
than receiving end, I suggest you choose a Save format in Works that any
Word user can read. You may be able to save in some Word format; if not, RTF
can be opened in any word processor.
