Can't get my e-mail program preference to work

I've set up my e-mail preference to be Outlook using the >Tools>Internet
Options>Programs menu. Outlook shows on the picklist and it's been selected
on the resulting menu box.

But when I try to send a link by e-mail and/or send a "new message" from the
File menu, Outlook Express opens as the default e-mail program.

How can I get this straightened out?

I'm using Outlook 2002 but none of the three solutions worked for me

There may be other possibilities at

Hope this helps,

To set Outlook as the default mail client,- Go to Start, Run - Type in the
following with quotation marks and press OK
"C:\program files\microsoft office\office\outlook.exe" /checkclient
For more information on Outlook see:

Just fixed this for someone...

Right-click Start button, select Properties, select Customize Start Menu,
select Show on Start Menu and select your mail client.

All the other solutions I saw on the board didn't work for me. This one did.

Thanks very much -- that did the trick!!

Sure seems like a strange back-roads approach to solving the problem, but it
works and I'll not bother questioning how we got there (grin).

Thanks again.
