Can't get into Access 03 dbase

I have a client with Access 03/Win XP. He used the security wizard applying
user level security. The dbase was on his C drive and worked fine. Moved it
and the backup dbase to a network drive. When he tried opening the dbase from
the network drive, got error saying he did not have permissions to open
database. He moved it back to the C drive - same thing. He can no longer open
his database - does not have permission. Any suggestions of what to try?

If he used the security wizard, then he should be opeining it from a
shortcut that includes the path of his secured workgroup file (mdw). Are
you joined to the appropriate workgroup, or are you using a shortcut which
includes the workgroup file?

He is not launching this from a shortcut. But launching the file directly
from Windows Explorer. The Security.mdw file is in the same directory as the
database. No workgroup is defined.

All mdb files require a workgroup file, even "unsecured" ones. If the
wizard has been used to apply security then you need the mdw file that it
created. You either switch to it manually (not recommended) using the
workgroup administrator or switch to it at run-time using a desktop
shortcut. Have a look through the posts on here, there are hundreds that
deal with this.

Keith.
