Cant format border?

Mel

Hi,

A friend has asked me to help him remove a thicker column border line on a
page and I go to format and border etc, but the line does not show up when
cells are highlighted and it cannot be formatted from format, border?? Any
help appreciated.
Thanks Mel

Maybe it's some sort of shape.

Can you right click on it and hit the delete key on the keyboard?

If that doesn't help, try going into safe mode (a button on the Control toolbox
toolbar) and then rightclick on it (and delete).

And depending on what your definition of thicker is, could it be the result of
conditional formatting?

It is only a small line size about the size of the underlining of the email
address etc below. It runs down the column between A and B column, right to
the bottom of the sheet?

If I add a column to A it moves right, If I delete it remain between the
first two columns as in A, B?

I cant find Control toolbox? Safe mode.

How do I find out what conditional formatting may be applied.

I cant imagine the person did this on purpose as they know less about excel
than I do and they did up the workbook?

Thanks
Mel

In xl2003 menus, you can use:
View|toolbars|check control toolbox

In xl2007, I think it's in the developer tab on the ribbon (insert group???).
