I can't export the email addresses in Outlook express that
are in groups but that are not considered contacts. They
are just email addresses I added to the group. Please help
me. Thank you,

Ryan

No, since Outlook does not use or support groups in the way that OE does.
You need to state your Outlook version and tell us whether the members of
the OE group also exist in the Contacts folder or only in the group.

Ryan: not sure if this helps your situation but here's what I did to get my
distribution lists (groups) from one computer to another - sort of a
different way of exporting/importing. I'm using Outlook 2000.

hey - I just stumbled onto a nifty way of getting my distribution lists from
one computer to another; i.e. from my desktop to my laptop. Each computer
runs a separate outlook PST file and they are networked at home.

What I did was 1) on the source computer (desktop) highlight the 7 dist.
lists I wanted to get into my contacts on the laptop, right-click and a
"forward" option is available.
2. when you hit "forward" it opens up a blank email message with the dist.
lists
attached as files.
3. I sent this message to myself (using my email address)
4. On the networked laptop I just downloaded my email which of course
included this message with the attachments.
5. I opened one of the attachments and then copied it to the appropriate
contacts folder in my laptop's outlook PST.

And, it worked!!

Took all of 2-3 minutes to do this.

Interestingly, when I experimented with trying to move just one DL by this
method I ran into a stumbling block. When you highlight - right click just
one DL contact, the forward option is NOT available.

Anyway, I thought I'd share this method.

Russ,

The version is Outlook express 6.0. The email addresses in
the groups are not contacts they are not listed anywhere
eles like the full contacts (with names are). Thank you
for your help.

Then you're not even trying to export to Outlook? I was asking about
Outlook.
This is a group to support Outlook from the Office group of programs.
Outlook Express is a part of Internet Explorer and is a quite different
program despite its similar name..

You will probably get a faster and more expert answer if you post this to an
outlook express news group.

Try posting in one of these newsgroups:
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie5.outlookexpress for OE 5.x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie55.outlookexpress for OE 5.5x
microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress for OE 6.x

A good website for information on OE is:
http://www.tomsterdam.com/
