can't delete mail

When I hit the delete button in Outlook, I get the message: “The messaging
interface has returned an unknown error. If the problem persists, restart
Outlook.†I have restarted several times and ran a detect and repair, with no
result. Thanks.

Can you provide further details such as Outlook version, whether or not
you're using Exchange or POP3, any application event viewer event ID's &
sources, do you use a PST, have you done any troubleshooting so anyone who
answers doesn't tell you to do the same thing, things like that.
