can't delete file

I have a file on my desktop that I cannot delete. When I try deleting it, it
says that is it in use by another program. There are no programs running
when I try to delete it, and I've tried ending processes, but that didn't
work. I've also tried starting in Safe Mode, but that didn't work. I've
also tried starting command, ending explorer, and typing in the delete
command. That didn't work because the folder name has a space in it ("New
Folder"). Any help on how to get this file deleted would be appreciated.

try to defrag your hd, and too, scan it for bad sectors should be good.
If this doesnt help, post any info about that file.

Defragging will not help the OP delete these files. To the OP: since you
didn't tell us what the file is, we can't guess whether the file is
malware or not.

Make sure your computer is virus/malware-free:

Pull the hard drive and use an enclosure attached to another computer
to remove the file. If you take the enclosure apart, using just the
circuit board and cables, you won't even have to remove the drive from
its box.

Have a nice day.
