can't connect to internet

Hi
I'm running two computers on a network with crossover cables. I connect
to the Internet through a high speed dsl modem with USB. Both computers are
Homexp sp2. Second computer connects through host computer, or should. I
will send IP config and browser information below. I have to manually set Ip
or it goes to the 255.255.0.0 subnet. I'm not sure which computer is causing
problem, maybe both. It worked fine at one point but had to reload windows
due to Norton problem. I can share files but can't connect Internet on
client computer. Thanks to everyone for all help on this matter. If you need
anymore information please ask.

I would try running the Home Networking Wizard on both of them again...
thereby resetting the Internet Connection Sharing...

.... sorry its just called the 'NetworkSetup Wizard' in XP - also make sure
'never dial a connection' is checked on the client computer in the Internet

For starters, if you have to enter IP info on the client computer
then you haven't set up Internet Connection Sharing correctly.
You might want to look at these sites for a little guidance:

http://www.helpwithwindows.com/WindowsXP/ics.html
http://www.annoyances.org/exec/show/ics_xp
http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm?articleid=1429&page=8
http://www.practicallynetworked.com/sharing/xp_ics/index.htm

Next, I've found ICS to be a pain to set up correctly. Do
yourself a favor and get a router. For less than $50 your problem
will be solved.

If you have no options other than to set up a static IP address
on
your client PC then your going to have to enter a default gateway
of 192.168.0.1 . Take a look here:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=309642

Good luck.
