Can't change wallpaper

Hi,
initially my problem was that once in control panel- I was not able to
change wallpaper. I had a jpeg picture as wallpaper and used hibernate
function- and when I signed into my user- the jpeg pic would show up briefly
and then disappear under a plain screen. I tried some solutions I found here
and now am even worse. Now- whenever I try to open display- I get this
message-"Runtime error" programC\windows\explorer.exe abnormal program
termination"
Please help!!

jpg's can be tricky.

you probably ran out of memory
to display it or the image is so
very large that it "is" displayed
but only viewing a portion of it like
a dark corner.

another thing is that pics' like
jpg's can be encoded with
malprogramming. You
may see an image but
in the background of it,
there is malware at work...

if you have been messing around
with the operating system for a while
by downloading or fiddling, you
might simply want to do a repair
installation of windows via the
windows setup cd.

Okay- the jpeg was a photo taken by my sister's digital camera and sent to me
by her.
Why did the photo work for months as "wallpaper" and then only get screwed
up after I began using the "hibernate" function on the keyboard?
Anyway- thanks for the suggestion and I will give it a try.

yeh, the repair installation should
get you back in shape.

as to why the conflict...?

will it's hard to say from my end
since i don't have super vision and
can't see "everything" that is running on
your pc.

one of the many questions is:
does it occur with this one pic or
with others too..?

so, lets wait n see if the repair install
can fix and eliminate hundreds of possible
causes firstly....
