Can't change Netware password from workstation

C

Chad A. Smith

I have a Windows 2000 domain and a Netware 5.1 server.

Workstation O/S is Windows XP Pro and Windows 2000 Pro

I am running Novell's Client 32 v4.83 sp2 (have tried 4.90 as well).

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"GinaDLL"="MSGINA.DLL"

I use the Change Password button on the Windows Security screen (from
ctrl+alt+del). I change Log on to: from the domain to Netware Services. Then
I type the old password and the new password. I get a message that tells me
the password has been changed. I log off and try to log back in with the new
password but it doesn't work. The old password will let me in.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Chad

Hi Chad,

you're problem is:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon]
"GinaDLL"="MSGINA.DLL"

If you're not using NWGINA.dll, you can't change your Novell password from
the Ctrl-Alt-Del security dialogue.

Either use NWGINA.dll, or right-click My Network Places, and select Change
NetWare Password...
