Can't change discussion web properties

F

Fred Peterson

I have set up a message board on my site using the frontpage
"discussion page wizard". I want to change the order that messages
appear in (i.e. newest to oldest rather than oldest to newest). I have
a file called tocproto.htm and when I look at it in "normal" view it
says "form results inserted here". When I right click on this and
select "frontpage component properties" I get a message that says "The
form insert here Frontpage component has no properties to edit". What
do I need to do?

Obviously I am a novice so please be gentle with me! Thanks in advance
for any hekp you can offer.

You need to create a new discussion group.

You can make the change in the current one, but it will not change any posting done prior to the
change. I can't tell you the exact spot to make the change, as I don't have access to a discussion
web.

Open the post message page (named disc1_post.htm in my web).
Right click anywhere in the form and choose properties.
On the Discussion Tab, tick the box "Order newest to oldest"
Click OK, click OK

As Thomas said, this will not re-order existing posts, but new posts will be
placed at the top.
