can't change default TS printer from local

T

Tim

I have a user connecting to our W2k TS using W2k Pro,
both at SP4 I believe. Their local printer is redirecting
fine, and it always gets set as default when the user
connects. They'd like to use a different printer as their
default though, and it won't seem to let them change it
to anything but their local redirected printer. Ever
heard of this? Any way to change/fix it?
Thanks.

What happens when they try to set their printer to be a
different default printer? Any error messages?

Are they trying to change the default printer from within
the TS session, or locally and then logging in?

Ok, I just talked again with my colleague who brought
this issue to me. It seems he can change the default
printer in the TS session, but everytime he logs off the
change is lost. So the next time he logs on, the default
printer has changed back, and he must manually change it
again to the one he wants. The problem it seems is that
the change is not persistant.

When this person connects to the terminal servers, their
default printer on their client will be their default
printer in their terminal services session. And yeah,
changes made to the default printer won't be saved, since
the default printer will be reset every time they logon.

Can this user make the other printer the default printer
before they connect to the terminal servers?

Sorry it has taken so long to get back on this, but it is
just one of many things we are troubleshooting and got
pushed to the back for a bit. We tried changing their
local default printer to the one we wanted, but even that
did not fix the default printer in TS issue! Is there a
registry setting in the user's TS reg that might be
locked down for some reason? Any reg setting we might be
able to change to get the default printer what we want it
to be? Thanks for any help.
