Can't capture from sony DVD 403

I have made a movie that I would like to further edit in movie maker. the
file type does not seem to be recognised my movie maker. it is a IFO file. I
am trying to capture from the mini dvd in my drive (camera not hooked up to
the computer)

I am using a sony dvd 403, windows xp and movie maker 5.1

how can I get the footage from my mini dvd into movie maker?
