Can't cancel printing job

OK, here is something extremely annoying that seems to be common (feature)
in Windows XP (I use PRO version). On many of the PCs I have used running
this operating system the Print Queue "manager" seems to have absolutely no
clue as to what it is doing.

It is pretty good at displaying the jobs that have been PLACED on the queue,
but quite often if you try to cancel a job WinXP will simply have a hard
time fighting with itself, the job will remain on top of the queue marked as
"Deleting - Printing" and it NEVER goes away.

This unfortunately blocks all other jobs from actually printing. Only way I
have found is to restart Windows but that sort of solution seems pretty
inappropriate. Never in my life as a (former) Unix fanatic did I see this
happening.

I hope that Vista comes with a decent print queue manager that actually
works.
