Can't Boot windows XP after power failures

Power outs 4 or 5 times the other day and my batt backup didn't work for shut
down. It's 4 yrs old. Now I can't Boot my computer. It goes as far as
asking if I wat to start in safe mode and others modes but none work, it just
shuts down and starts the loop all over again. I tried insurting the XP CD
with no luck. Any Ideas?

And have you changed the boot order in the BIOS so that it boots from the
"insurted" [/sic/] CD?
