Can't boot from Win XP CD

M

Marko Mihovilic

Hi! I have a problem with my disk's windows partition boot sector. I could
fix it by getting into the repair console and running "fixboot" and
"fixmbr" but when I try to boot my system from the XP CD, to get to the
repair console, it just freezes. I get the "Please wait while detecting
your hardware..." message, then it goes away and the PC just stops. I tried
to boot from my Win 98 CD but the same thing happened.

The system only wants to boot from a linux CD or from a DOS boot floppy.

Please Help.

Try using the boot floppy option to get to the recovery console.
